At a total of 1.155 million m³, German plywood imports fell 8% short of the previous year’s level in 2012. According to the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden hardwood, tropical and softwood plywood imports were all down from 2011. The statistics show the sharpest decline for hardwood plywood assortments, the imports of which dropped 11% to 587,322 m³ last year. When it comes to softwood plywood, German imports fell by around 5% to 455,915 m³ in 2012 as a whole. Here, the statistics show a much better second half-year, however. By contrast, Germany’s imports of tropical plywood showed a strong trend in the first half of 2012 that was followed by decline in the second half of the year. In 2012 as a whole, tropical plywood imports fell by 8% to 111,375m³ m³. |
