The European Commission has decided to outsource parts of the EUTR Monitoring Organisation accreditation process, as accreditation of Monitoring Organisations has fallen substantially behind schedule. As early as January, the Finnish consulting com-pany Indufor has been awarded the corresponding contract. Indufor will examine applications that the Commission has not yet started to assess and will give recommendations. However, the final decision about MO accreditation remains in the hands of the
Commission. Indufor expects to complete the assessment of the applications by the end of 2015. The Commission says the outsourcing of applications is due to a shortage of internal resources for speedy completion of the accreditation process.
 

The European Commission is likely to appoint two to three additional monitoring organizations (MOs) for the EUTR in the next couple of weeks, according to information from the BMEL. The ministry believes that GD Holz will likely be among the accredited MOs. GD Holz’s application was, by the organisation’s own account, the 7th out of 35 applications submitted with the Commission. So far, only four MOs have been accredited.
